Virtual BYC Week 7

Hello BS3 young people. Hope you are well and making the most of all the opportunities that are around. This ranges from learning new skills, to relaxing in your favourite place. It’s good to learn new things and it’s also good to take the opportunity to slow down.
Hope you enjoyed the Cyriak videos last week. I’ll hide another one at the end of this. Don’t watch it if you are feeling a bit sick, it’s pretty weird but it makes me laugh.
It’s great to see so many people in our area doing things to help others and sometimes to raise money. If you still want to get involved, here is the link
Also these resources from the British Red Cross are particularly great if you want to do something kind and thoughtful.
There are five lovely activities here
COOKING!
You know I love cooking. We’ve made some great things at BYC over the months. Indian pancakes, quesadillas, chocolate popcorn etc…
Here is a series of videos showing how I make bhajis. I’ve lived in Birmingham, Leicester and Hounslow, so have always been around brilliant south Asian food. I’ve also been lucky enough to be able to get the most unusual ingredients even many years ago. Fortunately now, you can get most things in large supermarkets. However, I always recommend a (safe) trip out to the Sweet Mart or Maliks in Easton for a fascinating eastern (Easton?) journey.
I use onion and carrot but you could use any veg. Also, as some of you know, I don’t like recipes so you can adapt or change anything (particularly the chana flour, which you can get in big supermarkets but might be tricky at the moment!) like the spices — just choose the ones you have/like.
Ok, here goes…Part 1 of Bhajis in lockdown. Ingredients.
Part 2 — Batter Mix!
Part 3 — Frying
Part 4 — Eating!
Show me your creations!
Oh here’s that scary Cyriak video……don’t watch after eating!!!
See you next week BYC fans, best wishes,
Simon and Sadie.
