NEW FOOD CLUB TO OPEN IN BEDMINSTER!
My favourite thing is back on the agenda and it’s exciting news as we have been working hard behind the scenes on a new project.
This FRIDAY we will be opening Bedminster’s first FOOD Club.
FOOD stands for Food On Our Doorstep, and the club aims to provide families in need with access to affordable good quality food. A lot of people have struggled throughout lockdown and before, and this prorgamme aims to support those that might be going through a tight spot.
It will be a members club, that costs just £1 per year to join and then each week members pay £3.50 and will receive food worth £10–15. It stops food going to landfill as much of the produce comes from Fareshare, the charity that redistributes surplus from the food industry.
If your family would benefit from this service or if you know anyone who would then please share the poster and encourage them to send an email to register, join the club and book a timeslot.
If there isn’t time for this, then you/they can pop along to United Reformed Church (where the Youth club takes place) and we can register them on the day. The club is open on Fridays from 3–5pm.
Fareshare are amazing. This is their website. Have a look around and see the fantastic work they do.
Fighting hunger & tackling food waste - Fareshare
FareShare South West is an independent charity as part of the FareShare UK network. We join up the dots between hunger…
There are so many partners here and interesting connections. You will probably recognise some of the organisations that Fareshare work with.
Look out for this logo, it’s the new FOOD Club logo and can be found wherever there is an official FOOD Club.
FOOD Clubs thrive on volunteers and we have a lot of people who have offered to help set up the Bedminster FOOD Club. We would like to bring in some young people to help support the club. If you are interested, then drop in and see me this Friday or next Friday (31st July or the 7th Aug) from 3–5pm. I’ll be down at the United Reformed CHurch, welcoming new members to the FOOD Club and signing them up to bargain food on their doorstep.
See you soon,
Simon and Sadie.
(There’ll be some pics of the food next week hopefully).
