Merry Christmas Everybody!
I can finally say this with conviction as we enter the last few days before the big day on Friday. I would also like to wish you all a very merry one. I really hope you get to enjoy it as much as you can, and in the best circumstances you can. It’s been a horrible year, so let’s hope you are able to end it on a positive note.

I always dreamt of a bike for Christmas, and one year I got one. I was very lucky and this was a special year.
Cycling seems a sensible choice right now. A good way to get fit and get plenty of fresh air.
The above photo is a Raleigh Grifter. It was very heavy and had padded protection on the handlebars. I was very lucky when I was given one of these for Christmas in either 1981 or 1982, I think.
I took it everywhere and tried my best to look after it, even though a big lump came out of the padded handlebars.
My Christmas memories are not really of presents but of silly games and laughing at the end of what was often a stressful day for some. Playing card games with my Nan and whichever family game someone had brought along with them. I hope you manage to create happy memories this year in spite of everything.
Remember New Years Eve 2019? When you reflect on the year gone by and perhaps won’t keep? I can remember last year, thinking about all the plans for the youth club and how exciting it would be to use the outdoor area. We had those floodlights put in and with a bit of sweeping up we would have been ready for an outdoor BYC! Exciting times were ahead. Or so we thought.
It’s been a long and challenging year. We’re still here, still awaiting news of our return and with the start of the roll out of the vaccine, it may be a bit sooner than we thought. We shall see.
So, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Give me a wave if you see me out and about over the festive period. 2021 will bring new challenges I am sure, and fingers crossed it will bring a return for the famous BYC!
